CPC’S VOCATIONAL NURSING PROGRAM MOVES TO WONDERLAND MALL

Published On: October 25, 2010

Rumors no more, it is official, Career Point College’s Nursing Division will move to Wonderland of the Americas Mall (formally Crossroads Mall).  The anticipated date of opening is scheduled for April 2011.

Career Point College’s President and CEO Lawrence Earle and Nursing Division Director Shelia Savell, RN, PhD have worked hard with the Wonderland Mall’s management and contractors to reconstruct almost 40,000 square feet to accommodate 400 plus students, faculty and staff.

The blueprints for the new location are proudly displayed outside the director’s office. Staff and students walk by Dr. Savell’s office daily and occasionally stop to visualize where their classes will be held.  Dr. Savell stated, “We will have programs and enough room to conduct courses that will meet the lifestyles of our students; whether working or stay-at-home parents.”  Career Point College’s VN program offers AM/PM classes starting every eight weeks and quarterly PM/Weekend starts.

The Vocational Nursing program started September 2008 with the first class graduating a year later.  From that humble beginning the program has grown to enrolling 30 to 35 students in the VN program and graduating a VN class every 8 weeks.  The Career Point College VN graduates have an overall NCLEX pass rate of  92% .  Currently the college has 230 VN students with 28 nursing instructors and 2 support staff on the main campus located at 485 Spencer Lane, San Antonio, Texas.  In addition to the Vocational Nursing Program, Career Point College offers a five week Certified Nursing Assistant program.
